Scope note
A term used to describe that portion of all people, primarily in the United States, but perhaps used more widely, who are black, that is, dark-skinned peoples of Africa, Oceania, and Australia or their descendants, without regard to perceived actual skin tone. Indigenous refers to people of ethnic groups native to the Americas. People of color being a broad term for any non-Anglo-Saxon people.The term BIPOC is meant to be inclusive of those who are affected by racism, discrimination, or oppression based on ethnicity or race-based tropes.
