Scope note
'/;k,./Hand-held tools designed to facilitate detailed stitching of embroidery floss, thin yarn, ribbon or other fine threaded materials, often for embellishment purposes. These tools comprise a perforated metal tip and a hollow channel through which the thread or yarn runs, mounted on a handle for easy gripping. Due to its sharp needle, this tool effectively pierces most tight-weave fabrics. After piercing thread or yarn through tight-weave fabric backing material, the tool's perforated tip leaves a loop of thread remaining on the backside of the fabric to create aesthetic patterns and designs.
