Scope note
Literally meaning "narrow format", this term refers to small format Japanese prints. The standard size was approximately 330 x 145 mm or 11.8 x 5.9 inches. This format was employed extensively for actor prints in the 18th century until it was replaced by the "oban", larger format prints.
