Scope note
Genus containing 240 species of trees and shrubs found throughout the tropics, especially tropical areas of Africa, Asia, and Oceania (including Australia). Some species are characterized by having stiff leaves and small, thick-skinned, orange fruits with a juicy, acid, fragrant pulp. The resin is a source of dyes. The stems may be used as a source of fiber.
