Scope note
Canopy-like arrangments of precious fabric, often consisting of celures, testers, and at least one set of valences. They were often used with chairs of estate, foot stools, and cushions, and could be raised onto a dais for added formality. For simple hangings of precious fabric placed behind a person, use "cloths of honor."
