Scope note
Sofas with heavily overstuffed ends and backs that have no exposed wood and together form a continuous line that typically terminates in spiral-curved arm rest. One end may be adjustable or removable. The legs may be exposed or not; if exposed, they are typically the only exposed wood on the piece. Chesterfields are often upholstered in leather, but may also be covered in various textile fabrics.
