Scope note
Nahua "toe" or "claw" military insignia rendered as an elongated droplet-like shape and topped by a feather crest, usually of quetzal feathers. Worn on a back frame, it was manufactured in yellow, green, and red varieties and paired with a feathered bodysuits of the same color. It was given to high-ranking warriors and as a tribute item in the postclassic period across central Mexico.
