Scope note
General term for wood of several trees of the genus Prunus, probably native to the region around the Caucasus and the Caspian Sea, and cultivated across the United States and Europe. The dark brownish-red wood from plum trees has been used for small decorative articles, inlays, and furniture. Plum wood is hard and strong with a straight grain and fine, uniform texture.
