Scope note
Headdresses worn Pueblo peoples of the Southwest United States by both men and women during ceremonies or festivals. The use of these date back 2000 or more years. Shapes and painted designs on the headdress can represent a specific kachina, or individual symbols may be associated with certain natural elements such as clouds, rain, or animals.
