Beliefs of the indigenous ancient Egyptians from predynastic times (4th millennium BCE) to the disappearance of the traditional culture in the first centuries CE. It included a complex system of polytheistic beliefs and rituals, focused on interaction with many deities who were believed to be present in, and in control of, the forces and elements of nature.
