Scope note
Devices constructed for the study of the localization of sound. These consist of a spherical cage constructed of circular wire components that divide it into eight equal parts. This is suspended by two lateral poles and is large enough to accommodate a seated adult with the upper part of the body inside of the cage. The blindfolded participant is exposed to sounds and indicates from which quadrant it appears to be emanating from. Used as a study or laboratory device.
