Latin crosses (crosses)

- Crosses comprising a longer vertical bar crossed by a shorter horizontal one at a point near the upper third of the long bar, resulting in a cross having three short arms, at the top and sides, and a long arm at the bottom. It is used as a Christian symbol of Christ's crucifixion, although the symbol existed in pre-Christian societies as well. These may be attended with symbols of Christ such as lances, crowns of thorns, or hammer and nails.
