Scope note
Having a form composed of a continuous curve, roughly oval but wider below the mid-section than in the upper; may be two- or three-dimensional. Form may be inverted, with larger dimension at the top. So-named because the form resembles the fruit of the European pear tree (Pyrus communis) and certain other species of the Pyrus genus.
