- Refers to the period in the first millennium BCE and the first millennium CE during which the kingdom of Qataban flourished in southern Arabia in the area of modern Yemen. The art of the period is characterized by a common style shared by the kingdoms of South Arabia at the time, seen particularly in sculpture displaying a simplicity of design combined with a high standard of workmanship, often inspired by religious devotions and temple ceremony.
