Scope note
Reinterment. In conservation context, refers to reburial of human remains or cultural artifacts unearthed or exposed during excavation. Motivations for reburial may be ethical in nature (as with regard to what was purposely buried) or protective (e.g. the reburial of an ancient mosaic pavement exposed to the elements). For the filling in of earth removed, use "backfilling."
