- African zitherlike chordophones made in several regions and with varying forms and playing methods, including bowing, plucking, and stroking the strings. Generally consisting of a long stick or bar with a knob at either end to which the strings are attached, three frets, a U-shaped bridge, and sometimes one or two half-calabash resonators at one end.
