Scope note
Very small stone tools, usually only a few centimeters in size and typically made of flint or chert, used by hunter-gathers and other ancient people throughout the world, at different times in Africa, Asia, and Europe. Microliths were often combined with wood, bone, resin and fiber to form composite tools or weapons, such as the points of spears and arrows.
