Strips of woven ribbon or other material that is either impregnated with ink or coated in a transferable medium, used to offset pigment to paper in various devices for impact printing. These are part of standard designs for manual or electric typewriters. Typewriter ribbon most commonly comes wound onto spools or reels, but may also be found in cassettes or other forms.
