Scope note
Dance performed by the Chickasaw, Koasati, Yuchi, and other Southeastern Native North American tribes. Likely originated with the Chickasaw, the dance is often performed in conjunction with Green Corn Dances. In some cases, garfish teeth are used in a purification rite during the dance, while in other variations dancers carry garfish effigies.
