Scope note
The chain of causation that drives all phenomena, in which virtuous actions lead to future happiness and evil acts the opposite. The sum of a person's actions in one of his successive states of existence, regarded as determining his fate in the next. Among symbols for karma is the endless knot. Karma is a key concept in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, and Taoism.
