Scope note
In Indian architecture, a makara-shaped gargoyle; makara-shaped water chute or conduit for discharging deity’s lustral water; elsewhere in halls, at eave-cornice, etc.; torana-arch spewed from the mouths of makaras, or formed from their tails.
