Kurgan (Neolithic culture or style)

- Refers to archaeological cultures that flourished north of the Black Sea from ca. 3300/2600 BC BCE. It is named for its distinctive Kurgan, or burial tumulus, and is also characterized by an emphasis on the horse and wheel technology. Many scholars believe this group is key to the expansion of Indo-Europeans across Eurasia.
