Scope note
Refers to a system of perspective that is based on orthodox linear perspective but exploits the extreme degradation of forms on the picture plane at very wide angles of view. It uses the optical trick of anamorphosis, in which a form depicted on the picture plane is subject to such extreme lateral stretching that it is unrecognizable from the front, but legible when viewed from a very shallow angle.
