bit maps
- Scope note
- Refers to images rendered in pixels that correspond to bits of data in computer memory, and are displayed on a screen. Pixels correspond to bits that may vary in depth: a one-bit pixel is either black or white. The higher the bit depth, the greater the number of colors that may be represented on screen. Bit maps make raster graphics possible.
