Scope note
Series of seats, usually three in number, or a bench, and rarely only one seat, either movable or recessed in the wall and crowned with canopies, pinnacles, and other enrichments, usually placed on the south side of the choir near the altar for the officiating clergy: celebrant, deacon, and sub-deacon.
