Scope note
Large open spaces where a significant number of ritual and collective activities took place in postclassic central Mexico. Generally translated as "patio" or "courtyard," in Mexico-Tenochtitlan the term probably refers to the plaza located in front of the Templo Mayor (Great Pyramid) inside the main ceremonial enclosure.
