Scope note
Systematically arranged collections of pressed plant specimens that have been gathered in situ, then dried and pressed onto sheets of archival paper so that major morphological characteristics are visible. Notations are added with the date collected, proper scientic names, name of the collector, and any other observations. These are commonly filed in cases, or bound in volumes for ready reference, and are may be housed in repositories also called 'herbaria.'
