Scope note
Candelabra or oil lamps having seven branches, modeled after the item that is said to have been used in the ancient temple in Jerusalem. The cup atop the central shaft, which is somewhat elevated to signify the Sabbath, is flanked by three lights on each side. For the eight-branched candelabra or lamps used for Hannukah, use "Hanukkah lamps."
