Scope note
Rubbings made from inscribed, engraved, or low-relief stones, usually using ink on paper that has been placed over the stone. Rubbings of tombstones, other inscriptions, or pictorial reliefs has long been popular in Asia as a way to disseminate texts or images, although the term may be used for any works made by this technique elsewhere.
