famille (ceramics style)

- Designation used for stylistic families of Chinese tin-glaze porcelain enamel wares from the Qing period, assigned by the French ceramic historian Albert Jacquemart in the 19th century, and based on the predominant colors of the enamel itself: green, yellow, black, and pink. The primary groups, from which the others are derived are "famille verte" and "famille rose."
