Scope note
Belgian art movement in painting that is associated with the group ‘Vie et Lumière’ formed around the artist Emile Claus in 1904. Typical are works with light-infused impressionist Flemish landscapes, often depicting the countryside in the surroundings of the river ‘Leie’.
