Scope note
Technique of painting a mural in which an aqueous pigment slurry, often pigments mixed with egg as a medium, is applied to dry plaster. It produced a painting of shorter longevity than buon fresco. Fresco secco was sometimes applied over buon fresco painted regions to correct mistakes or to add details.
