May refer to design for existing spaces or for spaces in the planning phases. For the discipline limited to the choices of color, texture, and superficial arrangement of furnishings of a space, prefer "interior decoration." For the discipline focusing more on the architecture of the interior, prefer "interior architecture (discipline)."
