roman (typeface style group)
- Scope note
- Large group of typefaces based generally on 15th-century Italian letterforms, that is, using the Latin alphabet and neither black letter nor distinctly script forms. A roman typeface, in this sense, may include an accompanying italic face. For roman as the opposite of italic, use "roman (upright typeface group)."
