Boehm system
- Scope note
- Keywork for the flute developed by Theobald Boehm in the 1830s, involving an improved placement of fingerholes and a key mechanism to provide full venting and bring all fingerholes within easy control of the fingers. Other instrument makers later adapted the system for the clarinet, oboe, bassoon, and other aerophones.
