Scope note
Holding devices or structures, typically made of wood, plastic, metal, or other similarly durable materials, designed to keep fabric taut and secure for embroidery and other needleworking tasks. These devices often comprise sets of laterally moveable bars, on which strips of webbing are nailed and to which the work is sewn, as well as sets of stationary bars with holes pierced at regular intervals for receiving pegs, clamps, or pins to keep the parts in place. These devices are often used in conjunction with fixed stands or trestles to hold them upright for easy use.
