mantel lamps
- Scope note
- Argand lamps usually of brass or bronze with one or two burners on arms connected by tubes to a reservoir that feeds fuel to the burners on the bird-fountain principle, often ornamented with prisms hung from rings around the reservoir and burners. The name derives from their common use singly or in sets of three on mantels.
