lagynos

- An ancient Greek and Roman vessel type often used to pour wine; it was particularly popular in the Hellenistic period. It features a narrow neck, swelling body, broad shoulder, long neck, and horizontal handle. The lagynos form originates in eastern Greece. At least two places where it was manufactured in the Mediterranean are known.
