Shinden

- Refers to the style of Japanese residential architecture used mainly for palatial mansions of the aristocracy, reaching it's peak in the Hein Perion (794-1185). The name is derived fron the shiden, or main hall, that is constructed in the center of a lot facing south. To the east, west and north are gabled pavllions or annexes connected by covered, paved passageways and surrounding an elaboarte landscape garden.
