Scope note
Refers to the works of a school of painters who specialized in ink painting, active from the 15th century to the 18th century. Centered around the Kyoto temple of Daitokuji, the schools important paintings include panels for the subtemple Shinjuan, as well as numerous scrolls in a wide variety of subject matter, including bird-and-flower paintings, portraits of the Zen master Ikkyu Sojun, and ink landscapes.
