azlon
- Scope note
- Generic name for nonfibrous proteins that have been reconfigured to take a fibrous form. Azlon fibers have been obtained from such materials as peanuts, corn, and casein. Blended with natural fibers or synthetics, they have been used for weaving, often to produce silk-like fabrics. Azlon has now largely been replaced by other synthetic fibers.
