- Long garments, usually white, worn by individuals performing séance rituals. Some robes also consist of a hood and face mask to cover the wearer completely. Associated with the Spiritualist movement in the United States (1850s-1890s) whose adherents believed in the presence of spirits and the ability to talk to the deceased.
