Scope note
Automated devices used to facilitate the initiation of new fabric designs onto a loom by threading yarns from new warps through the eyes of the loom's heddles and the dents of its reeds. By reducing the labor time required to carry out the drawing-in process, which consists of both drafting and denting tasks, these devices allow more frequent re-drawings or establishment of new design patterns in fabrics. H.D. Coleman is credited with inventing the first automated drawing-in machine in 1904 based on the principle of manual warping.
