Scope note
Mechanized devices designed to measure the shrinkage and relaxation rates of fabrics, including cotton, wool, linen, and silk, after they have been machine washed. These devices typically comprise mechanisms, such as tumblers and mechanical agitators, that simulate the forces exerted on fabrics during machine washing or drying. After being placed in the device and subjected to repeated movements, rotations, and frictions, the fabric samples are measured for resulting dimensional changes. The samples' pre- and post-test dimensions are then compared to calculate the shrinkage percentage.
