Zitherlike chordophones of France having a long, slightly tapered shallow soundbox with one heart-shaped and one roseate sound hole and five strings, two of which are melody and three are drones. The melody strings, running over fixed frets, are stopped in unison by a small stick held in the left hand as the right hand strums all five strings.
