Scope note
Light open helmets of ogival or hemispherical form, commonly furnished with a comb, a pointed peak projecting over the eyes, gorget plates on the lower part of the falling buffe, and hinged cheekpieces or earflaps. They were worn by infantry and light cavalry during the 16th and 17th centuries.
