Scope note
Refers to the Greek style of sculpture produced by Praxiteles during the 4th century BCE. Identified with female figures, especially the Aphrodite of Cnidos, it is characterized by more slender proportions, sinuous curves, and smooth modeling producing shadows that cast a soft haze over the planes of the figure.
