China paper
- Scope note
- Soft, thin, unsized, fine-textured, highly absorbent paper of bamboo fiber originating in China, usually of a pale yellow color. It is typically used for steel engraving, woodcut proofs, and as lithographic transfer paper, because it absorbs ink without smearing. Although it is also called "Indian proof paper," it is distinct from "India paper," which is softer and looser in its fiber bond.
