Scope note
In Indian architecture, a rail or seat-back ornamented with fencing and sometimes with elephant-head design at the base; sometimes vēdī, sometimes kakṣāsana; balustered dado (formed by rājasēna, vēdikā, āsanapaṭṭa, sometimes inclusive of the kakṣāsana above); older examples in a few cases show varana (elephant) figures; (in a restricted sense); vēdikā-enclosure.
