Scope note
Bindings, usually of calfskin leather, decorated with patterns and motifs derived from Etruscan pottery, including key patterns, vases, and palmettes. They were popularized in the mid-18th century by the bookbinders of Halifax, Yorkshire, England, notably the Edwards family.
